change your life!

WHY CONCIDER A WHOLISTIC BIOMIMETIC DENTAL IMPLANT?

Having a dental implant placed can literally be life changing, or even lifesaving.  And certainly, something that significant should not be attempted flippantly.  In contrast to popular “tooth-in-a-day” offers, predictable success that truly mimics your natural teeth requires a more thoughtful wholistic approach.

  1. Presurgical oral biome analysis and treatment minimizes the risk of postoperative or peri-implant infection and failure.
  2. 3D cone-beam or CT scan jawbone measurements to know where and if an implant is even possible
  3. Implant choice: Is a standard implant going to be best, or would a more cost-effective mini-implant work just as well?  Should your implant be a conventional titanium one, or would a ceramic one be more biocompatible and aesthetic?
  4. Grafting: When needed, xenographic (bovine or porcine) and allographic (cadaver) grafts are most common. But autografts (your own bone or even ground tooth) are more biocompatible and successful, as is biphasic calcium sulphate bone cement.
  5. Diagnostic provisional restorations assure potential bite and cosmetic issues do not lead to long-term failure.

Some of our happy customers...

  • Lon is a Master Dentist. Only a select few have taken the time and invested in themselves to offer the level of care and consideration he gives. He has a wonderful knowledge about comprehensive dentistry and the ability to deliver superior clinical care. He truly cares about the people he treats. I would not hesitate to have him work with me.

  • “He’s my HERO! My teeth were very bad – to the point that I didn’t want Dr. Peckham to even see them. Well, he worked his magic and now I have the perfect smile. He dramatically boosted my confidence and steered me in the right direction on what option was best for my teeth. He’s not just my dentist, he’s my hero!!!”

    Amy Wollgast

    Patrick DeRyan

  • “I found the services professional, excellently done and not once did I feel I was being manipulated into a product or service I didn’t want. In my opinion, Dr. Peckham displays the balance of skill and artistry that an individual considering dentures wants to benefit from.”

    Jim Walker

  • “I have upper and lower dentures. I tried using powders and pastes, all sorts of products. None of them worked very well. I asked Dr. Peckham for implants. WOW! How perfect is this!! No more paste or glue to taint my food. No “clacking” of the teeth as you chew or talk. It’s pretty close to the real thing! I highly recommend anyone with dentures to get the implants.”

    Katherine Patrick

  • “The dentures Dr. Peckham made for me are wonderful. I can eat fresh fruits and vegetables with them that I could not eat with my very expensive prior dentures. My speech has improved with Dr. Peckham’s dentures and they don’t fall out when I talk and I don’t need to use adhesives to hold them in. Thank you”

Cost of waiting?

  • Prolonged embarrassment
  • Prolonged pain
  • Poor health
  • More surgery

Health Issues

People with missing teeth on average live 10 years less than those with all their teeth. Possible reasons:

  • Poorer chewing leads to poorer nutrition.
  • Inflammation – the common denominator in a whole host of diseases including periodontists, caries, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, arthritis, and Alzheimer's. And the number one cause of inflammation? Poor nutrition.

Bone Issues

The longer you wait, the less bone you’ll have to work with, increasing the chance of needing bone grafting. Wait too long and the grafting may have to so extensive that you’ll have to go without any teeth for 6-8 months!

Dr. Peckham invites you to discover the Smile Miracles Project

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Implant Questions and Answers

Q: How Do I Know If I Am A Candidate For Dental Implant Treatment?

Almost everyone who is missing one or more teeth and in general good health is a candidate for dental implant treatment. There are some medical conditions that can potentially undermine the success of implant treatment. Diabetes and smoking are good examples of this. However, with some simple precautions, there are few conditions that would keep someone from having implant treatment altogether.

Quality and quantity of available bone for implant placement is more often a factor in qualifying for dental implants than medical conditions. However, even people who have lost a significant amount of bone can qualify for dental implant treatment with additional procedures to add or create new bone. Advances in this type of treatment have made it possible for thousands of patients who would not previously have been considered candidates to have successful implant procedures.

Q: How Long Will It Take To Complete The Treatment?

You will notice a difference almost immediately. However, the entire process can take anywhere between 3-9 months to complete. This depends on the type, and quantity of implants you need, along with the quality of bone in which the implants are placed.

There are treatment options that are faster, such as simple dentures; however, none of these traditional methods prevent bone loss, or give the type of natural look and feel that implants do.

Q: What is the Cost of Implant Treatment?

Many people call and ask us, “How much is one implant going to cost?” While I wish it was that simple. While we are proud of our Best Price Guarantee, the only way to determine actual cost is by coming in for a consultation and examination to find out if you have bone loss, if you’ll need one, two, or more implants, where they need to go, and what kind will best meet your needs.

Obviously, costs vary greatly depending on your needs and desires. A healthy mouth or magnificent dazzling smile pays dividends in many ways for your entire life.  But dental implants are admittedly not the least expensive option. So if your primary concern is lowest possible cost, then dental implants may not be the best choice for you. If on the other hand, a reasonable investment and a fair price are important to you, but far more important is the best possible outcome, the least pain and discomfort, the gentlest care and the highest degree of expertise and professionalism, then implants by Dr. Peckham just may be your best option.

All that being said, comparing apples to apples, as mentioned above Dr. Peckham guarantees the best price possible.  If you find a better local price with the same implant style and ancillary surgical procedures along with comparably detailed restorations (crowns or dentures) and warrantee, he will meet that price and give you an additional $500 credit.  It doesn’t get any better than that!

Q: How Painful Is Getting Dental Implants?

Most of our patients report that they feel very little if any pain during the procedure. And even afterwards, a day or two of pain meds is usually sufficient.

If you are particularly worried about it though, we have a couple options that will put you at ease.  For those who simply want help relaxing, we use NuCalm, an all-natural herbal and micro-neural relaxation combination that quickly induces a deep state of calm with no side-effects or drug interactions to worry about.

On the other hand, if relaxation is just not going to do it and you want to be totally “out of it”, we also offer an extremely safe anesthesia option.  For anyone wanting to enjoy the advantages of “sleep dentistry”, this is really the best way to go.

Q: Will I Need To Have One Implant Placed For Each Tooth That Is Missing?

No. In fact it is possible to replace all of the lower teeth with an over denture that is supported by only 2-4 implants. On the other hand, sometimes it might work in your advantage to have 6 or 8 implants to provide additional strength.

Q: How Long Do Implants Last?

Current research has shown that implants can be successful for 30 years or more. However, our goal is for them to last a lifetime. This is a big improvement over traditional dentures, which usually last about 5 years and/or bridges which generally have useful lifetime of 7-10 years.

Q: How Do I Know If I’m Too Old For Implants?

Great question. Your overall health and your desire to improve the quality of life are much more important thing to look at, than your age. We currently have patients from 40 years old to 80+ years old. There have been reports of people who are in their 90s and having this procedure done with no problems.

Q: Do You Offer Any Warrantee?

Yes. Even though dental implants have over a 90% success rate, there is still a very small chance that they won’t completely integrate. When this occurs, new implants are placed and the success rates for the replacement implants are even higher.

Should you happen to be one of those "lucky" 10%ers, no worries.  All of our implants come with a 6-year anywhere-in-the-nation no-fault warrantee.  So even if you move and can't come back to see us, you are still covered!

About Dr. Peckham

Among the first things you will notice when you meet Dr. Peckham are his boots and jeans (unless you catch him on a moccasin day), which are your first clues as to his relaxed and laid back attitude. Never in a hurry, or too busy to give you his undivided attention; he’ll make you feel, despite being surrounded by the latest in modern dental equipment, as if you have stepped back in time, returning to a place where you the patient are more important than the money.

If you come on a sunny summer day, you’ll likely see his Indian motorcycle parked out front. Otherwise you’ll probably find his ’94 Dodge pickup behind the office, possibly loaded with supplies for the horse ranch he and his wife Barbara own and operate.

Nationally recognized for his contributions to the art and science of dentistry and featured on the CBS, ABC, and FOX networks, Dr. Peckham considers it a special privilege to treat patients from all across the Inland Northwest, not only locally, but from western Montana, eastern Washington, and all across north Idaho as well. Dr. Peckham attended dental school in Portland, Oregon and graduated from Oregon Health Sciences University – School of Dentistry in 1985. Since then he has continued to enhance his education with experts from around the globe, including extensive training at the world’s premiere dental continuing education school, The Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne, Florida. His special interest is in solving complex dental issues resulting in teeth that look beautiful, feel great, last a life time, and support your overall health as well. He was one of the first dentists to pioneer the use of operating microscopes for dental treatment, and continues to advance the art and science of dentistry as a researcher (he is the founder and president of the Masters Dental Research Foundation) and dental consultant.

Dr. Peckham and his team see three kinds of patients: those who don’t want to feel like a number on an assembly line – who crave old fashioned customized personal service and attention to detail; those who are losing their teeth or wearing dentures and want to regain comfort, function, and beauty thanks to his innovative methods of implant and denture reconstruction; those with a strong desire to preserve or regain their physical health and recognize how vital dental health is to that goal, and vice versa.  If you have a family member, friend, coworker, or neighbor who would appreciate this kind of approach to dental care, please let them know about us!
